Mining News - The MSC achievement came on the back of reports by auditors who presented their findings at the external audit session attended by the MSC managing director, deputies and senior managers as well as an audit team from Switzerland’s SGS.

According to the correspondent of Steel Newsletter, the audit, which ran from October 28 to November 22, saw an eight-member SGS team work 69 man-days to review seven standards – namely, Quality Management System (QMS), Standard for Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), Energy Management Standard, Customer Complaint Management (CCM), Customer Satisfaction Management (CSM), and Training Management – in MSC’s 19 development committees in an integrated fashion. During the process, quality management and environment certificates were audited for the first time based on new editions of the standards (2015 edition), and Mobarakeh Steel Company managed to obtain these certificates with other management system certificates of the company being extended for a one-year period.

Addressing the closing session, MSC Managing Director Dr. Bahram Sobhani appreciated the cooperation of all staff members during the audit process, thanked the audit team for its tireless efforts and stressed the need for serious efforts to pursue the issues which could be improved and generalize them in all processes and departments of the company. “Necessary measures are expected to be taken in line with a timetable to implement the improvement-driven plans by creating different working groups in the company’s transformation committees.”
He further said that the results of such audits and securing these certificates show that issues are handled in line with international standards at Mobarakeh Steel Company, adding, however, we need to exercise more care to seriously pursue things, especially those associated with safety.

He credited conscientious efforts by members of staff and their close attention to the standards for this achievement and said, “We should use this opportunity to do what it takes to observe the defined guidelines and requirements each standard envisions. We should not forget that we need to faithfully make constant improvements and turn weak points into strengths.”
In conclusion, the MSC chief congratulated the staff and Mobarakeh Steel Group’s trading partners on setting new records and having their integrated management system certificates renewed.

Earlier in the session, MSC’s Chief Technology Officer Manouchehr Nikfar said the external audits aim to show how the company’s processes and activities match up to the defined standards, have the existing certificates renewed or secure new certificates. He also appreciated cooperation by all MSC staff during the audit process.
