Arash Manafi, supervisor of Sabadar ironworks repairs, said in this regard: Considering the sensitivity and important and strategic role of the Seal gas compressor in the sponge iron production units, especially in the direct regeneration unit of Saba, due to the impossibility of using nitrogen, and also considering the embargo and monopoly of the manufacture of this equipment. In order to prevent the stoppage of the production line, numerous technical meetings were held with different units for internal manufacturing and localization of this special equipment, and finally we decided to localize the production of Seal gas compressor for the first time in the country.
“Seal gas compressor of high speed around and divine power in the year of "production; knowledge-based, job-creating" was built and at the same time as the production line was stopped due to the damage of the German compressor, at the end of July 1401, a domestically made compressor was installed under the supervision of the manufacturer at the iron-making site of the Seba steel complex and was successfully put into production. The installed compressor has performed well in providing flow rate and output pressure, and other technical matters have been approved by the experts of this unit.” He added.
“The screw compressors that are used in direct regeneration units in different countries are supplied from a few limited companies, which are installed in Megadol of Seba Steel and Kharazi unit of Mobarakeh Steel, type VRA 736 L from AERZENER, Germany. Considering the new units launched in the whole country, 10 units of the mentioned type have been installed in Iran, and with the successful implementation of its localization project in Saba Steel Complex, the conditions for supplying this compressor to the rest of the direct regeneration factories in the country were also provided.” He said.
Saeed Taghiyar, an expert in the localization of materials, parts and equipment, said: due to the high technology of this equipment, the high price and the many problems we are facing in providing it as a result of the sanctions, preliminary expert meetings have been held since 2017 to localize and manufacture this equipment. started In the following, by forming a localization team from the units of the Technical Office of Repairs and Iron Works of Saba Steel Complex, Mobarakeh Steel Central Repair Station and Localization Unit, capable domestic manufacturers were examined and evaluated technically and commercially, and finally, after holding a tender and following up on commercial affairs from The party of purchasing parts and equipment, compressor manufacturing was notified to Simia Sanat Tusan.
“At the beginning of the project, technical issues were raised and summarized in several meetings, and taking into account the geometric complexity of the parts, their high precision in large dimensions and special considerations in assembling the set, the construction process began under the supervision of the localization unit. Due to the sensitivity of the equipment's performance, the final controls were carried out in the presence of repair experts and the relevant technical office, and due to the expertise of the manufacturer and their previous experience in repairing this type of compressor, all stages were completed in accordance with the initial agreements of implementation and manufacturing of parts.” He continued.
“By localizing this equipment, in addition to rial savings of more than 50%, the knowledge of screw compressor manufacturing and the technical capability of the domestic manufacturer in this field were institutionalized. Also, stable supply in a shorter time with faster access is one of the benefits of implementing this project by a company specializing in this field. In the end, it is necessary to thank the sincere cooperation of all units, including the technical office of Saba repairs, the repair department of Saba ironworks, the central repair shop, the spare parts purchase unit and the localization unit of materials, parts and equipment, as well as the knowledge-based company Simia Sanat Tusan, who completed the localization process of this equipment.” he said.

This compressor is an oil-free screw compressor with a power of 1.43 megawatts, and its main example is in Seba steel, manufactured by the German company AERZENER.
He continued: The natural gas burned in the reformer with a temperature of about 1000 degrees Celsius, after cooling down to 40 degrees Celsius, enters the Seal gas compressor and comes out with a pressure of about 2 to 2.5 bar, and in the upper part of the furnace where iron pellets (iron ore) or iron oxide) is injected so that the air does not enter the furnace and at the same time the dangerous and explosive gas of regeneration (combination of hydrogen and carbon monoxide) does not leak into the atmosphere.
