Mining News Pro - Vale has employed the digital expertise of Schneider Electric and AVEVA to integrate, centralise and remotely monitor its Brazilian operations.
Schneider has implemented EcoStruxure Control Expert – Asset Link, which combines the best hardware and software the two companies have to offer in one solution.
Vale senior automation leader Paulo Henrique Fontes Coura said this was another piece to the puzzle as Vale looked to upgrade operations globally.
“We are constantly looking to improve safety, efficiency and sustainability, not just now but also for the future,” he said.
“Schneider Electric and AVEVA have become an integral part of that journey.”
EcoStruxure enables cost savings, a more holistic visibility of the operation and all its parts, and better productivity and efficiency through unifying multiple disciplines.
Safety has also been improved as staff are able to be removed from harm’s way with remote monitoring
Coura said Schneider and AVEVA appeared to be a strong match as their offerings work very well together.
“Rather than simply offering the software, they provided a complete, bespoke end-to-end service helping us optimise at every turn. This included training, support and advice throughout,” he said.
AVEVA Global Strategic Partners vice president Marc Ramsay said unification had been achieved across and within companies.
“Together with Schneider Electric EcoStruxure, AVEVA System Platform supports Vale in realising the mines of the future through contextualised operations built on a collaborative, standards-based foundation that unifies people, processes and assets across all of Vale’s facilities for continuous operational improvement and real-time decision assistance,” Ramsay said.
