Calidus gains ground at Warrawoona with $75.5m contract

GR Engineering will design and construct Warrawoona’s process plant and associated infrastructure for $75.5 million.

Calidus is expecting the 240 room on-site accommodation village to receive an occupancy permit signoff at the start of April.

Bulk earthworks at Warrawoona have also commenced through a contract with Macmahon Holdings.

According to Calidus managing director Dave Reeves, the completion of the accommodation village will pave the way for the next phase of works at the site.

“It is wonderful to see the rapid progress being made at Warrawoona with bulk earthworks now in full flight. The completion of the accommodation village in early April will allow mobilisation of civil construction crews to commence concrete works as Calidus continues on its transition to gold producer status,” he said.

“With the recent purchase of the Blue Spec project and with geologists back in the field, we are working on all fronts to pour first gold and then expand production and mine life.”

Calidus last week acquired the Blue Spec project, which is expected to boost Warawoona’s gold output to 807,000 ounces across an eight-year mine life, from Novo Resources.

There are 72 workers now on site at Warrawoona as construction activity continues to increase.
