Mining News Pro - Civmec has won contracts with BHP, Rio Tinto, Roy Hill and Alcoa of Australia across Western Australia worth a combined value of more than $100 million.
In the manufacturing division, Civmec will supply, manufacture, trial assemble and deliver four main train load-out bin modules to BHP’s Jimblebar iron ore project.
It will also supply, fabricate and provide surface treatment and modularisation of shuttle trusses, conveyor trusses, platework and stick steel to Rio Tinto’s Koodaideri iron ore project.
In the construction area, Civmec is set to extend its existing structural mechanical piping, electrical and instrument services (SMP&E) works at Rio Tinto’s Mesa A iron ore project by also delivering a fixed plant workshop.
The company has also been contracted to deliver a civil package, including detailed earthworks, concrete placement, cabling and pipework for Roy Hill’s debottlenecking project.
Civmec secured a three-year contract extension from Alcoa to provide maintenance works at its three Australian alumina refineries.
Its contract extension will cover all calciner works at the Kwinana, Pinjarra and Wagerup refineries, where the plants contain 17 calciner units, two liquor burners and five regenerative thermal oxidisers.
Civmec will deliver calciner maintenance and overhaul and repair services such as scaffolding, mechanical, refractory and electrical services.
“We are very pleased to again be trusted by Alcoa of Australia to deliver critical maintenance activities for their calciners across their Western Australian sites,” Civmec chief executive Patrick Tallong said.
Civmec employs around 100 people through its apprenticeship and graduate programs.
The registered training organisation (RTO) has also upskilled around 1200 employees through its in-house program over the past 12 months.
