Centurion secures $25m New Century contract
Mining News Pro - New Century Resources has contracted Centurion for multi-year logistics support at the Century zinc mine and Karumba port facilities in Queensland.

The contract is worth $25 million and involves the provision of customs clearance, wharf collections of import commodities, warehousing, road transport, airfreight and courier services.

Centurion plans to use a national road network to consolidate freight in North Queensland, in addition to engaging a road train fleet for the daily transport of bulk reagents, general freight and grinding media.

Centurion chief executive Justin Cardaci said he was looking forward to providing a service that delivered on surety of supply.

“We are excited to support (New Century) on a national scale,” he said.

“Centurion’s end-to-end logistics solutions, proprietary tracking systems and nationwide branch network enable us to tailor and adapt to (New Century’s) specific requirements and provide visibility throughout every step of the service.”

Centurion plans to commence operations around February next year.

The company has a fleet of more than 2000 vehicles and employs over 900 people.
