Turkey- Flat Steel Import Increases 24% M-o-M in May’18

Nation’s flat steel imports stood at 0.84 MnT in May’18 in comparison with 0.68 MnT in Apr’18.
However on yearly basis the same surged by whopping 45% in May’18 against 0.58 MnT in preceding year.
During first five months of CY18 (Jan- May) nation’s flat steel export volumes registered the growth of 13% to 3.31 MnT which was 2.94 MnT in similar time frame of previous year.
CIS nations are actively exporting flat steel to Turkey amid better allocations for exports.However nation is holding general and presidential elections on June 24,and this may create more uncertainty in the market.

Country-Wise Turkey Flat Steel Imports in May’18 - Russia stood as a major flat steel exporter and has procured 0.41 MnT of flat steel in May’18 which is higher by 64% against 0.25 MnT in Apr’18.

Secondly,Ukraine exported 0.06 MnT in May’18,higher by 20% against 0.05 MnT in previous month.Followed by France at 0.04 MnT in May’18,decline by 20% against 0.05 MnT in Apr’18.

South Korea stood at 0.06 MnT in May’18 ,lower by 20% against 0.05 MnT against in previous month.Meanwhile Germany stood at 0.03 MnT ,Belgium at 0.03 followed by Netherland and Spain at 0.01 MnT in May’18.
