First phase of Iran’s alumina ingot will be ready in February

According to Mining News Pro - Amir Tardal, chief executive of Iran’s alumina company said that the first phase of aluminum ingots production will be completed in February. This unit reaches the full production capacity of 40,000 tons.

“The first stage of ingot production came into operation in March 2018. So far, 60 boilers are functioning and by the end of February 10 other boilers will start. This means the first stage of ingot production is complete,” Tardal said.

“Since the beginning of this (solar) year, 19,400 tons of alumina ingots and 170,400 tons of alumina have been produced in this unit. We have required infrastructure and conditions for the implementation of the other two stages of the project in this company and currently, we are following up to obtain a license from IMIDRO,” he added.

Mentioning the company’s capacities, Tardal said that alumina powder production capacity is 240,000 tons per year of which 80,000 are used for ingots.

“As the only producer of alumina powder in the country, the company meets one-fifth of domestic demand and the other part is supplied by exports,” he said.

This industrial complex, which is the center of aluminum powder production in Iran, has created 2000 job opportunities.
