Mining News Pro - Canadian miner Kinross Gold Corp said on Wednesday it is suspending its Russian operations, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The company said in a statement it is suspending all activities at its Udinsk development project.
Kinross is also in the process of suspending operations at its Kupol mine, with the focus being on safety and well-being of its more than 2,000 employees.
Russian forces invaded Ukraine last week, marking the biggest attack by one state against another in Europe since World War Two. Many firms have idled operations in Russia following Western sanctions against Russia.
