Mining News Pro - Anglo American has commissioned Fenner Dunlop Australian Conveyor Engineering (ACE) to deliver an overland conveyor system to the Aquila coal project in Queensland.
Under the agreement, Fenner Dunlop ACE will design, supply and install an ACV002 overland conveyor, with works to include the overland structure, belting, electrics and an elevated stacker to load coal onto the stockpile.
The company will also be responsible for installing and commissioning the overland conveyor in the second half of next year, giving Fenner Dunlop further responsibility and ownership of the project.
Several of the conveyor components, including the mechanical and electrical supply and belting, will be manufactured in Australia, reaffirming Fenner Dunlop’s support for local manufacturing.
“After delivery of the initial underground development works, we are very excited to be working on this project,” ACE regional manager for Queensland Brendon Harms said.
“We believe we have created a culture of delivering on our promises. Completing the design, supply and installation gives us a great opportunity to ensure effective conveyor operation for our client.”
The Aquila project, near Middlemount, is an underground hard coking coal mine that plays a role in extending the life of Anglo American’s existing Capcoal underground operations.
