Mining News Pro - Monadelphous Group has secured construction and maintenance contracts, including with four Australian mining giants, worth a combined value of around $150 million.
Under an existing framework agreement with BHP Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO), the Perth-headquartered company will be in charge of dewatering surplus water at the Mining Area C iron ore operations.
It was also appointed to BHP’s WAIO site engineering panel for two additional years.
Monadelphous will provide BHP with civil, structural, mechanical, piping and marine services at its Pilbara mine site and port operations.
Rio Tinto boosted Monadelphous’ win by contracting the engineering company for the provision of maintenance services and minor projects on its Pilbara marine infrastructure for three years.
This was followed by Fortescue Metals Group, which extended its two existing fixed plant maintenance and shutdown crane services contracts with Monadelphous for another year.
Monadelphous managing director Rob Velletri said the company continued to build on its relationships with long-term customers in the mining sector.
“As always, we remain (focussed) on the safe and efficient delivery of high-quality service solutions and we are pleased to continue to be recognised as a partner of choice by our customers,” Velletri said.
Newcrest Mining awarded a three-year contract to Monadelphous for the Lihir gold operations in Papua New Guinea, solidifying the latter’s length of service on the site since 2017.
It encompasses civil, mechanical, structural, piping and blast and paint work.
