Mining News Pro - The tenth largest importer of Iron ore, Turkey has recorded decline in iron ore imports in June`18. The imports recorded at 0.61 MnT in June`18, down 42% M-o-M as against 1.05 MnT in May`18. The Y-o-Y imports witnessed decrease of 20% in June`18 as against 0.76 MnT in June`17.
Turkey`s crude steel production for June`18 witnessed at 3.04 MnT, down 9% on monthly basis as against 3.33 MnT in May`18. On yearly basis, the output stood almost stable as against June`17 production at 3.02 MnT.
On quarterly basis, Turkey imports recorded at 2.43 MnT, in line with quarter ended Mar`18.
The non-agglomerated ore (Lumps and Fines) witnessed fall of 32% M-o-M in imports to 0.41 MnT in June`18 as against 0.6 MnT in May`18. The Y-o-Y imports stood up by two folds in June`18 as against 0.2 MnT in June`17.
Agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) recorded decline of 56% in monthly imports at 0.2 MnT for June`18 as compared to 0.45 MnT in May`18. The Y-o-Y import recorded decline of 64% in June`18 as compared to June`17 imports at 0.56MnT.
Brazil iron ore exports to Turkey drops 39% on monthly basis
Brazil continued to be the largest exporter of iron ore to Turkey in June`18 at 0.33 MnT, contributing 54% of total Turkey`s import for the month. The imports witnessed fall of 39% M-o-M as against 0.54 MnT a month before, followed by Russia at 0.12MnT (stable M-o-M), and Ukraine at 0.09 MnT (up 50% on monthly basis).
Brazil also marked the largest exporter for quarter ending June`18 at 1.14 MnT, up 31% as against 0.87 MnT in Q1 CY`18, followed by Sweden at 0.49 MnT ( up 23% Q-o-Q) and Russia at 0.38 MnT (up 58% on quarterly basis).
