The value of the extended contract is expected to be between $110 million and $120 million over the journey.

Golding’s existing mining fleet will continue operations at the North West Queensland mine, with the replacement of select light and medium vehicles forecasted.

NRW chief executive officer and managing director Jules Pemberton said the contract renewal is a big win for Golding.

“This contract extension reaffirms the strong relationship Golding has formed with Southern Cross Fertilisers at Phosphate Hill for more than a decade now, under various contract arrangements, and reflects our ability to secure repeat business through the quality and value of our service offering,” he said.

Around 80 Golding employees are contracted at the mine, which operates on a FIFO arrangement from Townsville.

Incitec Pivot’s Phosphate Hill operation produces ammonium phosphate fertilisers and also boasts its own phosphate mine and ore processing facility.

With an annual capacity of 975,000 tonnes, Phosphate Hill combines manufacturing plants, its own phosphate rock reserve and ammonia production from gas sourced from long-term gas supply agreements.

In August, NRW revealed its ambitions to continue diversifying its services going forward as they make their move into lithium and hydrogen energy sectors.

NRW recently acquired BGC Contracting, DIAB Engineering and Primero in the past financial year, three companies with strong footholds in their respective industries.

NRW also recently signed a letter of intent with Coronado Global Resources to extend its mining services deal at the Curragh coal mine, adding approximately $1 billion to the contract value.

More than five years was added to the the six-fleet contract under the letter of intent, pushing the partnership between NRW subsidiary Golding Contractors and Coronado to 2026.
