RTW is based in Capel, Western Australia, 200 kilometres south of Perth, and has served the region for 40 years.

Monadelphous south-west area manager Mark Holdman said the deal filled a need in the construction engineering company.

“RTW, as part of the Monadelphous team, complements our existing operations in the south-west and consolidates our presence in the area,” Holdman said.

“But, more importantly, it gives us the opportunity to offer additional services to existing customers including design, estimating, supply/fabrication and installation.”

RTW has previously worked with clients such as Iluka Resources and Talison Lithium, for a combined project value of $2.6 million.

For Iluka, RTW fabricated, treated, pre-assembled, installed and commissioned a side tipping hopper. Concurrently, RTW supplied project management, labour and general support for the project as it was completed ahead of schedule.

At Talison Lithium’s Greenbushes mine – one of the largest reserves in the world – RTW was contracted to assist in the completion of the chemical grade lithium processing plant (CGP2) and the refurbishment of a crushing plant.

The Greenbushes works involved up to 50 people on site at any one time, conducting trades from boilermaker welders, fitters, riggers, civil tradesmen and trades assistants.

RTW has also been responsible for a 135-tonne boiler package at South 32’s Worsley alumina mine.

The acquisition came less than a month after Monadelphous announced $215 million worth of contracts with BHP, Rio Tinto and Fortescue Metals Group.

These contracts included smelter maintenance works at BHP’s Olympic Dam copper mine, construction and support services at Rio Tinto’s Gudai-Darri iron ore project, and specialist heavy lifting and haulage services at Fortescue’s Iron Bridge magnetite project.
