The 113 carat gem-quality white diamond shows that large and high-value diamonds occur close to Lucapa’s kimberlite exploration program focus area.

Lucapa announced the diamond recovery alongside its partners Empress Nacional de Diamentes E.P. and Rosas & Petalas.

The white diamond is the 17th diamond over 100 carats discovered on the Lulo concession.

Lucapa stated the diamond recovery continues the strong performance of the Lulo mine in late 2020.

Mining at Lulo will focus on the southern terrace mining blocks during the wet season in the coming months.

Lucapa is an ASX-listed diamond producer that operates the Lulo mine in Angola and Mothae kimberlite mine in Lesotho, with both mines have produced large and high-value diamonds.

Lucapa is expecting the Mothae mine to increase its processing capacity from 1.1 million tonnes per annum to 1.6 million tonnes per annum in the first quarter of 2021.
