The approval is part of Calidus’ regulatory requirements at Warrawoona ahead of starting project construction in the next quarter.

Alongside the government approval, Calidus has completed 10 per cent of its 240-room accommodation village installation.

The company expects the Warrawoona construction workforce to commence occupancy by early next year.

Calidus is also set to commission its 65-metre telecommunications tower in a few weeks’ time and has placed an order with Citic for a 4500 kilowatt SAG mill, which will be delivered to Port Hedland before being transported to site.

“The pace of construction continues to gain momentum,” Calidus managing director Dave Reeves said.

“Installation of the key base infrastructure has rapidly advanced and will provide a springboard to allow on-ground activities to kick off in earnest in early 2021.”

Calidus now seeks to execute its engineering, procurement, construction contract with GR Engineering Services and award a power station preferred contractor during the remainder of the December quarter.

It is expecting two remaining regulatory approvals to be granted shortly, including the mining proposal and works approvals.
