Power infrastructure at the mine site features LNG-fuelled generation with solar and battery storage technology.

Under the proposal, LNG will be supplied via road train from Woodside’s Pluto LNG truck loading facility near Karratha, Western Australia over a 10-year term.

The facility is part of the Pluto LNG project and a distribution hub that allows the transport of clean and reliable LNG fuel across Western Australia.

EDL has transported more than a billion litres of LNG from Karratha since 2007.

Strandline stated that the contract will allow it to capture energy supply cost savings relative to the definite feasibility study published in June.

It also established an important long-term relationship between Strandline and two industry leaders in the energy sector, according to Strandline managing director Luke Graham.

“The company continues to move rapidly towards development of Coburn and these key contract appointments to well-credentialled suppliers provide delivery certainty,” he said.

The LNG supply contract is the latest in Strandline’s contract award spree at the Coburn project this week, including three major construction contracts awarded to Macmahon, Primero Group and Piacentini & Son and a power station construction contract awarded to Contract Power.

The Woodside-EDL contract is subject to agreement between the parties and Strandline’s lending facility.
