GOLD: Granada trenches auriferous mineralization at Aukeko

Aukeko was first explored during the 1930s when a 13-metre shaft was sunk. Mapping at that time identified several gold-bearing structures within a 500-metre wide, east-west trending zone. Shearing, alteration, quartz veining, and numerous porphyry intrusions were noted.

The company is particularly interested in the Auk shear zone where the shaft was sunk. The zone was traced over a 1-km length and an average width of 50 metres. It is also the location of the Bert vein where three bulk samples were taken in 1938. The samples had an average grade of about 240 g/t gold.

Granada has signed a provisional milling agreement with Canada Cobalt Works to process 600,000 to 2.0 million tonnes  of ore averaging 4.5 g/t gold. Canada Cobalt is considering the building a 600-t/d mill at its Castle mine in Gowganda, Ont.
