India: Crude Steel Output Up 6% Y-o-Y in Q1 FY19

SAIL, RINL, TSL, Essar, JSWL & JSPL together produced 15.610 MnT during Apr-June’18 higher by 12% compared to similar time frame of previous year. Increasing output from major mills amid high domestic margins resulted in increased crude steel production.

Indian finished steel exports fall 34% Y-o-Y in Q1 FY19-India has exported 0.364 MnT of finished steel in Jun’18, down by 15% on monthly basis against 0.43 MnT in May’18.However on yearly basis the same decline by 44% over June’17.

During Apr-June’18 nation’s finished steel exports stood at 1.351 MnT,down by 34% as compare to similar time frame of previous year. Indian mills focused more on domestic sales over high realizations resulting in reduced export volumes.

India’s finished steel imports increase by 11% Y-o-Y in Q1 FY19- Indian finished steel imports stood 0.676 MnT in June’18, up by 9.4% against 0.62 MnT in May’18. Also on yearly basis the same moved up by 5% in June’18 over June’17.In Q1FY19,nation’s finished steel imports was at 1.893 MnT (Apr-June),moved up 11% over similar time frame of previous year.

India’s consumption of finished steel surged by 8% Y-o-Y in Q1 FY19 - India’s finished steel consumption fell marginally by 3% M-o-M to 8.097 MnT in Jun’18 as compared to May’18.
