Mining News- MOC said the export rights of 10 ferroalloy traders for 2018 are still awaiting approval, as the traders need to provide proof of export volumes and domestic sales in 2016-17.

China requires ferroalloy exporters to have minimum annual ferrosilicon, ferromanganese and silicomanganese export volumes or export supply quantities of at least 3,000 mt in 2016, or domestic sales of minimum 10,000 mt in 2016, MOC data showed.

The ministry would also grant export licences to producers whose ferrosilicon, ferromanganese and silicomanganese products have been approved by the government as value added products made with new production technology, MOC data showed.

The exporting producers are also required to have eco-friendly output capacity, meeting government emissions standards, the data showed.

To cut emissions, Hunan Province, a key ferroalloy production base in China, will cap its provincial ferroalloy output capacity at 2 million mt/year, and manganese metal output capacity at 300,000 mt/year, by 2020, data from the Hunan provincial government showed.

Hunan is aiming to permanently shut outdated ferroalloy and manganese metal capacity of 500,000 mt/year, 100,000 mt/year, respectively, during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20).
