Mining News Pro - Poland's KGHM, one of the world's biggest copper and silver producers, is optimistic about paying a dividend in 2022, its CEO said on Wednesday.
"Keeping results in the trend we have allows us to be optimistic about it," Marcin Chludzinski said when asked about the 2022 dividend, adding that the company's dividend policy remained unchanged.
The company's dividend policy aims to keep a balance between the amounts paid out and the possibilities for effective investing taking into account the debt level. KGHM paid a dividend in 2021 after three years of refraining from payments.
Chludzinski also said the company expects to publish in September its strategy update with more focus on green energy sources amid tougher regulations.
"What we are looking at at the moment...is a well-known topic related to green energy, but also to new energy sources like small nuclear reactors as an energy source, hydrogen...we are also looking at and analysing offshore projects," he said.
Poland, which relies on coal for most of its power, plans to increase its share of emissions-free nuclear and renewable energy generation.
Earlier this year Poland's biggest refiner PKN Orlen signed a cooperation agreement with chemicals company Synthos on small nuclear projects.
