Aqura signs multi-year BHP internet services deal

The contract will see Aqura administer Wi-Fi access across nine WAIO sites, providing internet access in village accommodation rooms and public areas. This is alongside managed support services for BHP’s village entertainment networks.

Aqura chief executive officer Travis Young said the deal was emboldening for his company as tech aspirants quickly becoming mainstays in the industry.

“This engagement continues a highly successful relationship supporting BHP’s In-room Communications and Entertainment Solution (IRCES) which saw Aqura upgrade over 12,000 rooms to provide high-quality connectivity access for their workers when they are away from home,” Young said.

“We are proud to continue supporting BHP who have further shown their commitment to local businesses with this three-year engagement to ensure the IRCES network continues to deliver reliable and cost-effective access for many years to come.”

The contract is validation for the work Aqura has been doing behind the scenes. The company has been committing significant internal investment to develop cutting-edge content-access networks as service solutions.

Such technology will offer Aqura the opportunity to further solidify itself in the space, providing the necessary foundations to establish multi-year managed services frameworks across a number of sectors going forward.

The contract comes as Veris Ltd, Aqura’s parent company, announced that its subsidiary would be demerging from Veris and seeking its own listing on the ASX.

The announcement comes as Aqura continues to go from strength-to-strength, recording strong year-on-year growth and financial performance, while winning a number of significant contracts.

Aqura has also taken home a handful of awards for their work, including the Gold Disruptor Award at the ACS Digital Disruptors Awards 2019, in the Best New Startup Platform category.

This is alongside Aqura’s accolade at the 28th WAITTA INCITE Awards 2019, where it was recognised in the Most Effective Infrastructure Solution category.

Both awards recognised Aqura’s Autonomous Rapid Communications (ARC) platform.
