More than four times larger than its previous base, Scania’s new facility spans 2000 square metres and will allow the company to increase its inventory value by three times.

Scania has become a leader in manufacturing vehicles for in-pit, outbound hauling and service purposes.

Scania WA regional executive manager Michael Berti said the warehouse upgrade is a natural response to the company’s expanding operations in the state.

“Scania has attracted many more customers across a broad spectrum of applications over the past 7-10 years in WA, and we see no sign of this growth slowing,” Berti said.

“We have increased our warehousing floorspace by a factor of four and the value of inventory we will hold by a factor of three. This provides us with vastly improved ability to service our customer base here and now, and importantly the capacity to scale up to meet future demand.”

The new facility will offer Scania greater freedom and space to deliver its services more swiftly, streamlining outbound consigning while also allowing them to receive and unpack equipment more quickly.

Scania has also introduced technology designed to automate the process of weighing and measuring packages, with the software automatically linking data directly to a carrier’s freight system.

The move comes after Scania recently acquired a new 9000 square metre warehouse in Melbourne which is set to open in September this year.
