Suitable for narrow vein operations, Sandvik DD212 allows operators to open smaller tunnel sections while covering more metres.

Factory and field tests have proven up to a 20 per cent reduction in boom positioning time per face and around 15 per cent improvement in drill penetration rate.

Sandvik stated that the DD212 reached 93 per cent mechanical availability during its test period in a mine site, accumulating 300 hours percussion within 2.5 months of operation with zero drill rods jammed.

This performance owes to several features, including a new drilling control system, THC562, which reduces the wear on the rock drill and rock tools.

Sandvik DD212 also features a new intelligent boom, SB20i, which enables the precise and fast navigation of drill feed and tool, with automatic parallelism for hole angle measurements.

“The new DD212 brings operational safety and versatility for tackling different applications, precise electronic positioning, ergonomic operator interface, data monitoring, all leading to superior pull-out ratio and reduced tool consumption, ensuring that the new DD212 delivers the best fit in narrow vein drilling,” Sandvik concluded.
