Mining News Pro - The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) will combine in-person and virtual components to deliver a hybrid event model for its 2021 conference series.
The hybrid model will provide professional development and networking opportunities to the global resources community, with delegates able to attend in-person or access the conference content online.
For virtual attendees, AusIMM has adopted the Events OnAir platform, allowing delegates to explore live and-on-demand content, interact in live-streamed Q&As and engage virtually with industry professionals.
The institute will continue to deliver keynote presentations, technical insights, networking opportunities, workshops and technical tours with the new hybrid model.
AusIMM chief executive officer Stephen Durkin said the new model, which is based on the success of its 2020 digital conferences, would open the door to new opportunities for the global resources community.
“AusIMM’s new hybrid conference model offers first-class professional development in an inclusive, globally accessible format. We know international travel restrictions continue for some time, and this new model provides a needs-responsive solution to deliver meaningful professional development now and into the future,” he said.
“The hybrid model offers enduring value for delegates in remote and overseas locations to attend from their own home, office or site location.
“We have already had a glimpse into the future with our recent digital conferences with high levels of engagement through the online platform. We look forward to hosting outstanding conference experiences for all delegates wherever they are in the world to learn, connect and network at AusIMM hybrid conferences in 2021.”
AusIMM is committed to protecting the health and safety of resources professionals as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is a key aspect to their decision of adopting a hybrid event model.
Upcoming 2021 AusIMM hybrid conferences include events such as the underground operators conference 2021, from March 15-17 2021 in Perth and online; the life of mine conference 2021, from April 28-30 2021 in Brisbane and online; and the AusRock conference 2021, from May 25-27 2021 in Sydney and online.
