Mine contractor Downer is currently mobilising the second mining fleet as it looks to further gold mining activities in 2021.

The operators of the Gruyere project recently celebrated 12 months of production at the site, producing 230,590 ounces of the precious metal.

The two companies began pouring gold at the Western Australian site on June 30 2019 and has since achieved this result at an average all-in sustaining cost of $1155 per attributable ounce to Gold Road.

Gold Road described the result as “an outstanding achievement for an operation in its first year of production,” having started commercial production on October 1 2019.

During the past six months to June 30, there has been a total of 3.9 million tonnes of ore mined at Gruyere at an average grade of 1.06 grams per tonne for 134,356 contained ounces.

There was also 4.1 million tonnes of ore processed during this period at a head grade of 1.06 grams per tonne of gold and a recovery rate of 93.5 per cent for 131,450 ounces of gold produced.

The Gruyere project saw an exploration budget of $26.6 million to prioritise discoveries within the Yamarna greenstone belt, where there has been a total of 88,695 metres auger, aircore, reverse circulation and diamond drilled across the Yamarna, Gruyere and Cygnus projects.

Gold Road expects to complete a mine pit design projection for increased ore reserves at Gruyere by early 2022.
