Lynas Malaysia plant returns to business
Mining News Pro - Lynas Corporation has restarted operations at its Malaysian plant after the country’s Prime Minister eased coronavirus restrictions.

According to Mining News Pro - Operations at the plant, which is located near Kuantan, will begin to ramp up with the guidance of said health and hygiene requirements, global economic activity, customer demand and restrictions on suppliers.

The company stated the Malaysia plant will resume operations at 70 per cent of Lynas NEXT production rates.

This is expected replenish its supply chains and amass supply of its critical minerals inventories which have been depleted.

Following a national easing of restrictions, the majority of Malaysia’s economic sectors have returned to their operations, however the Lynas Malaysia plant will have to operate in line with strict standard operation procedure.

The company has also introduced a range of health and hygiene protocols for its sites to comply with government requirements — which it states is its “number one priority”.

The Lynas Malaysia plant treats concentrate from the Mt Weld Central Lanthanide Deposit in Western Australia, following initial treatment at the Mt Weld Concentration camp.

Lynas has stated the Mt Weld facility has continued to operate with reduced staff on site in compliance with health and safety guidelines from Australia’s state and federal governments.
