EcoGraf secures agreement for graphite processing facility
Mining News Pro - EcoGraf and the Western Australian Government have signed an agreement to deliver a $98 million graphite processing facility in the Rockingham industrial area of Western Australia.
  Zoom:

The processing facility is set to begin construction in mid 2021 and aimed to support Western Australia’s battery minerals industry.

EcoGraf owns a patented graphite purification process that is eco-friendly and caters to demand for environmentally friendly battery-grade spherical graphite.

The facility will have a production capacity of 5000 tonnes of battery-grade spherical graphite a year during stage one, and will increase to 20,000 tonnes per annum when stage two is completed.

According to the Western Australian Government, the Rockingham strategic industrial area was chosen due to its existing infrastructure, ease of access to global markets and its recent lithium developments across the Rockingham-Kwinana region.

“This is an exciting facility that will create jobs in Rockingham and surrounding suburbs,” Western Australian Premier Mark McGowan said.

“The allocation of this prime industrial land to EcoGraf supports the state government’s future battery industry strategy, which aims to grow this emerging sector in WA and transform it into a significant source of economic development, diversification, jobs and skills.

“Importantly, this proposed multi-million-dollar investment comes just two months after the opening of Alloy Road unlocked new strategic industrial land.

“This is another demonstration of the great work done by the Industrial Lands Authority facilitate to industry growth and investment in WA.”
