In 2019, the mining industry’s leading companies had a total revenue of approximately $692 billion. Glencore Xstrata was the world’s leading mining company based on revenue, says Statista.com.
Accenture, IBM and Infosys assist mining companies in the development of technology capabilities, and the implementation of data driven technologies – automation, artificial intelligence, streamlined operational processes, cloud, and analytics platforms – to support transformation of operational processes within mining enterprises.

Digital transformation becomes an increasingly important focus for mining companies, and in particular the integration of IT and OT systems.
“Mining companies are seeking the support of IT, digital led IT services, and professional services companies in the optimization and transformation of their operational processes,” says Emilie Ditton, associate vice president for Energy and Manufacturing Insights at IDC Asia Pacific.
