Mining News Pro - Civmec has won contracts with Fortescue Metals Group for the Iron Bridge magnetite project in Western Australia, and BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) at the Hay Point loading point in Central Queensland.
At Iron Bridge, Civmec has been contracted to supply 4700 tonnes of conveyor, trusses and trestles, with work commencing this month.
Civmec expects most of its Iron Bridge work to complete in the 2021 financial year.
“We are delighted to extend our relationship with Fortescue with further work awarded on the Iron Bridge project,” Civmec chief executive Patrick Tallon said.
“Having recently commenced the on-site activities for the recently awarded civil concrete package for the same project and as we draw closer to completion on the Eliwana project for Fortescue, it is pleasing to get the opportunity to further underpin the relationship.”
The Iron Bridge project is a joint venture between Fortescue subsidiary FMG Iron Bridge and Formosa Steel IB.
Civmec has also been assigned to build and commission a ship loader for BMA at the Hay Point loading point in Central Queensland.
The 1800-tonne ship loader will be fabricated and commissioned ahead of a large infrastructure replacement project at Hay Point Coal Terminal, which is subject to final board approval from BHP and Mitsubishi.
The material handling equipment for the ship loader will be fabricated at Civmec’s Henderson manufacturing facility in Western Australia, with work to begin immediately and provide 150 jobs in Perth.
“This contract follows on from other smart modules and machines delivered by Civmec for BHP projects as part of our partnership delivering high quality, complex machines,” Tallon said.
