Pluto gas finds toll capacity at NWS

The North West Shelf joint venture (JV) partners have also struck an agreement with Mitsui E&P Australia and Beach Energy to process gas from the Waitsia gas project Stage 2 at the facility.

Woodside said on Monday that the third-party gas agreement advanced the North West Shelf project’s plans to toll third-party gas at the Karratha gas plant, as anticipated processing capacity becomes available this decade.

“The processing of third-party gas resources will extend the operating life of the North West Shelf project and ensures the Karratha gas plant continues its significant contribution to the Australian and Western Australian economies for years into the future,” said Woodside CEO Peter Coleman.

“The tolling of third-party gas at the Karratha plant provides new revenue and liquefied natural gas (LN) exports, and an additional domestic gas commitment for Western Australia from Pluto.”

Gas produced from the offshore Pluto fields will be transported to the North West Shelf facilities through the proposed Pluto-Karratha interconnector, which is targeting to be ready for startup in 2022.

Coleman said on Monday that Woodside will be working with stakeholders over the coming months to finalise the project agreement and regulatory approvals for the Pluto project.
