Exxaro’s Matla coal mine team has donated 180 food parcels, containing basic food items such as cooking oil, sugar, tea bags, rice, soups, baked beans, tinned fish and maize meal, to households within the eMalahleni local municipality.

The company’s Leeuwpan mine team partnered with the Victor Khanye local municipality to distribute food parcels in the Delmas area and, in Belfast, the team provided host farming communities with food parcels and blankets.

“The arrival of the pandemic has brought widespread distress and uncertainty. Those affected have, understandably, been struggling to provide food for their families considering their lives were turned upside down, overnight.

“Our commitment to the nation and our people is the driving force we need to continue working tirelessly during these trying times. We are doing our part to ensure the country’s wellbeing and productivity when it matters the most,” says Exxaro spokesperson Mzila Mthenjane.
