Mining News Pro - Thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions will supply two of its KB 63-130 gyratory crushers — which are set to be the largest in Australia — to Fortescue Metals Group’s Iron Bridge magnetite project in the Pilbara, Western Australia.
According to Mining News Pro - The gyratory crushers will process raw iron ore material at the site, which is being developed to deliver first ore in mid-2022.
thysenkrupp Industrial Solutions Australia chief executive Johann Rinnhofer said the KB 63-130 crushers were considered to be the world’s largest.
“We are proud to be part of this project and excited to install two of thyssenkrupp’s next generation gyratory crushers here in Western Australia,” he said.
“These high capacity crushers are considered to be the largest and most powerful in the world and are unrivalled when it comes to crushing blasted hard rock and ore.”
For the Iron Bridge magnetite project, high capacity crushers are required for the 22 million tonnes per annum of high grade 67 per cent Fe magnetite concentrate product that is expected to be delivered.
The consecutive contracts awarded to thyssenkrupp under the JV will also see a radial stacker delivered to the project, which will be tasked with stacking secondary crushed magnate iron ore onto a stockpile at the mine.
Fortescue approved the $US2.6 billion ($4.1 billion) second stage of the project last year, which involves construction of a large-scale process plant and port infrastructure for the site’s high production rates.
The Iron Bridge magnetite project is a joint venture (JV) between Fortescue Metals Group subsidiary FMG Iron Bridge and Formosa Steel.
