According to Mining News Pro - The Brisbane-headquartered company, which plans to support the future electric vehicle revolution, aims to become certified carbon neutral, under the Australian Government’s climate active program.

This will see Australian Mines reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and offset its remaining carbon-generating activity.

The decision is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to build a sustainable business, incorporating environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices.

Australian Mines managing director Benjamin Bell said this commitment to becoming carbon neutral follows the company joining the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA) last month.

The company’s Sconi cobalt-nickel-scandium project in north Queensland was also granted prescribed project status by the Queensland Government last year, further recognising its commitment to the communities in which it operates, according to Bell.

“Investing in becoming a carbon neutral business is investing to build a long-term sustainable future for Australian Mines and long-term value creation for our shareholders,” Bell said.

“Australian Mines is a responsible corporate citizen that plans to deliver a globally significant, ethical, reliable and sustainable source of technology metals to the rapidly growing electric vehicle and energy storage industries.”

The company will be partnering with Pangolin Associates to develop its carbon neutrality plan.
