Mining News Pro - Epiroc has unveiled its DM30 II SP blasthole drill, offering increased performance and efficiency.
According to Mining News Pro - With a focus on small mining operations and quarrying, the rotary blasthole drill offers faster hole-to-hole drilling.
Epiroc designed the DM30 II SP as a crawler-mounted, hydraulic tophead-drive rig.
Based off the same platform as Epiroc’s DM45 and DML blasthole rigs, featuring single-pass capability, allowing lower costs per tonne.
“Built off a proven platform and with the new single-pass capability, the DM30 II SP reduces the overall cost of production per ton and improves transportability,” Epiroc product line manager blasthole Heino Hamman said.
“It offers high quality at an excellent value — and flexibility for the future.”
The drill can reach a clean hole depth of 11 meters for single-pass applications.
Epiroc also claim the drill’s small overall size allows for increased manoeuvrability on tight benches and easier transportation.
Over 45,000 hours of structure design life is claimed to be achieved by the drill, providing low maintenance costs and easy access to all major service points.
Low- and high-pressure compressors are available for the drill’s configuration.
Safety is another important factor to the drill rig, with a falling object protective structure (FOPS) cab, ground-level isolation along with an air-end safety shutdown system for high temperatures.
The drill is built on Epiroc’s RCS 5 platform offering a wide array of safety and interlock features, with a potential for future upgrades that will not require a major machine rebuild.
In addition to its high visibility and 80 decibel noise level, Epiroc has taken the cabin a step further, designing it to be insulated, pressurised, heated and cooled.
Operators ill be able to control all operational functions from the drill’s ergonomic console layout, featuring the ability to instantly switch from drilling to tramming.
