Mining News Pro - Monadelphous has secured a $240 million contract with BHP to provide maintenance services for shutdowns, outages and minor capital works at its iron ore operations in the Pilbara, Western Australia.
According to Mining News Pro -The three-year contract, which contains an additional two one-year extension options, involves providing general maintenance services at BHP’s Whaleback, Jimblebar, Easter Ridge, Mining Area C and Yandi mine sites.
Monadelphous managing director Rob Velletri said the contract continued to build on the company’s long-standing relationship with BHP, on both construction and maintenance projects, over the past two decades.
“The award of this contract is testament to our reputation for delivering customer-focused engineering solutions and maintaining a high standard of safety and quality,” Velletri said.
“We look forward to further developing our relationship with BHP over coming years, growing our operational footprint in the Pilbara and continuing to strengthen our long-term commitment to the region and the communities in which we operate.”
Monadelphous won a contract with BHP to upgrade a water treatment plant at the Mining Area C operation in February last year.
The company’s work with BHP in the Pilbara during the 2018 financial year also included structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation integration packages under an existing contract.
