The first hematite iron ore processing plant opened / Iran`s new technology to iron ore mines
The Minister of Mining and Trade opened the first concentrate production plant from Hematite low iron ore in Zarand, Kerman.

According to the Public Relations of the Organization for the Development and Renewal of Mining and Mining Industries of Iran, a low-level hematite iron ore deposit stock in the Jalalabad mine of Zarand has been carried out for the first time in the country with the investment of a private company (Fakoor Industry of Tehran).

Until now, Iran did not have the technology to utilize low-grade hematite iron ore deposits, but with the launch of the plant, a new technology for the use of minerals previously considered as waste was entered into the iron ore.

The project was built in 2 mills of crushing, milling and processing with initial input capacity of 2 million and 200 thousand tons annually and 600 thousand tons of concentrate production annually.

The construction of the project began in November and beginning of November 1993, in line with the progress of the work and the arrival of domestic and foreign equipment, the planning for the installation of mechanical and electrical equipment was on the agenda and the first phase of the plant in February, 1994.

Also, since March 1994, with the establishment of mechanical and electrical contractors, installation activities began in the second phase, and the initial commissioning and production of concentrate in December 1995 successfully succeeded.

Since its inception, the plant has produced 700,000 tonnes of iron ore concentrate from about 3 million low-grade waste iron ore (26-28% hematite).
