Mining News - Ghana`s gold and manganese production rose in 2017 and diamonds declined.
Ghana`s gold production grew to 2.81 million ounces in 2017, up 10.2 percent from the previous year. Ghana`s Ministry of Mines said the growth was due to an overall increase in production in more than 12 mining companies in West Africa. Total revenue from gold for Ghana reached $ 3.52 billion in 2017, up from $ 3.25 billion a year earlier. Ghana is the second-largest gold producer in South Africa, and
Mining companies operating in the country include Newmont, Gold Fields, Anglet Gold and Asanko.
The ministry said the production of manganese in Ghana would increase to 3 million tons in 2017, while in 2016 it was over 2 million years old. Ghana`s ministry of mines has cut its diamond production, amounting to 86,924 drops for 2017, up from 143,000 carats in 2016
