Swick Mining Services has taken a step in demerging its drilling and mineral technology businesses with the appointment of Jason Marinko as the new managing director of the mineral technology department.

Once demerged, the drilling and mineral technology businesses will operate under a new company, Orexplore Technologies.

Marinko is an experienced chief executive, chairman and director, with previous appointments that include executive chairman of Spookfish, chief executive of Little World Beverages and director of Yojee.

Swick managing director Kent Swick commended Marinko’s appointment, stating that his “wealth of experience combined with his extensive technology and financial expertise will provide significant benefits to Orexplore as it moves to demerge from Swick and beyond”.

Commercialisation of Orexplore has gathered momentum, having secured an agreement with St Barbara for scanning 1500 metres of core each month over a six-month period at the Gwalia gold mine in Western Australia.

This marks the approximate halfway point of the demerger, with the work at St Barbara expected to mobilise this month.

Azure Minerals has welcomed Wayne Bramwell to the company as non-executive director.

Bramwell is a metallurgist of more than 29 years with various experiences across project evaluation, development and operations in base metals, precious metals and bulk commodities in Australia and internationally.

At present, Bramwell is group business manager of the Creasy Group and non-executive director of Westgold Resources.

Long-standing non-executive director Wolf Martinick has advised that he will not seek re-election at Azure’s 2020 annual general meeting and will retire at its conclusion next month.

Six Sigma Metals has appointed Michael Jackson as exploration manager for the Monument gold project in Western Australia following its acquisition in August.

Jackson will begin his role by reviewing all historic exploration data, geophysical surveys, induced polarisation (IP) and geochemical work from the Monument project in the planning of future drilling campaigns.

He is bringing more than 25 years of experience in exploration and resource development to the company, thanks to previous stints at Evolution Mining and De Grey Mining, to name a few.

“We welcome Jackson to the Six Sigma team and look forward to working together to prepare for our upcoming maiden drilling programs,” Six Sigma chairman Patrick Holywell said.

“His previous experience will no doubt bring superior knowledge and understanding of both the geology and potential that the project demonstrates.”
