The program consists of around 3400 metres of reverse circulation drilling across Great Northern’s three projects, starting with Camel Creek and then followed by Golden Cup and Big Rush.

Great Northern intends to follow up shallow historic drilling that returned high grade intersections, and examine the potential to define large resources.

Gold systems at Camel Creek and Big Rush extend over several kilometres of strike.

Great Northern expects the drilling to commence in late July.

“Eagle Drilling have successfully completed the last two drilling programs for the company and are regarded as the most experienced and reliable drilling contractor in north Queensland,” Great Northern stated in an ASX announcement.

This is the first opportunity the company has had to drill at Camel Creek. It was last mined in 1988 and produced over 57,000 ounces of gold.

Historic intersections from floor of open pits at Camel Creek also include 12 metres at 8.4 grams per tonne of gold from zero metre, and 22 metres at 2.94 grams per tonne of gold from eight metres.

Great Northern plans to collect samples of any mineralisation intersected for initial evaluation.

The company will also test the big Rush heap leach pad, which contains around one million tonnes of material.
