According to Mining News Pro -National Group has rented five Liebherr T 282 C ultra-class trucks to BHP at the Peak Downs coal mine in the Bowen Basin, northern Queensland.
The Liebherr T 282 C is considered to have the second largest capacity among mine trucks globally, with a nominal payload of 363 tonnes (400 short tons).
The fifth of these trucks for Peaks Down will be the final T 282 C delivered to Australia before Liebherr moves on to its successor, the T 284.
“The Liebherr T 282 C is the largest ultra-class haul truck in Australia today and it’s actually quite poetic that the last of these T 282 Cs will go to the same company (BHP) that bought the first from us many years ago,” Liebherr Australia executive general manager – marketing and sales Tom Juric said.
The units were shipped from Liebherr’s manufacturing facility in Virginia, United States, to Mackay.
