Mining News -Speaking in a ceremony to launch three projects in Amol, Mazandaran Province, the industry chief said that Mobarakeh Steel Company (MSC), which has been established after the revolution, is an ocean of science production, adding the country can tap into the existing potential to take further steps toward development of the industry.

He further said that Iran is on course toward progress thanks to endeavors all people are making across the country, adding Iran is a rich and capable country on all fronts.

The minister went on to say that Iran’s current steel production capacity stands at 30 million tons. “Production units are being built on expanses 51,000 square meters in area across the country. As many as 17,000 work permits have been issued and 400 small-sized industrial units have been launched in the country in recent days.”

The country’s copper production was almost zero in 1979, but it now stands at around 450,000 tons, he said. “The eleventh government developed projects to produce copper even if previously-imposed sanctions were still in place.”

As for healing the scar of unemployment, Shariatmadari said, “The country is rich, but we need to tolerate the problems and create more jobs. We need to join hands to expand our activities.”

He said branding is a must if Iran seeks to get into global markets. “We need to support the development of brands. We can achieve more if we develop production. We need to make production and get ready for target markets. To that end, the government should offer subsidies and support domestic production.”
